Whenever I have a shoot for Vida, Sarah, the fashion editor has a set of pictures and a particular look in mind so we move according to her flow. I always make a concerted effort to shoot off a couple of frames for “myself” though. These don’t usually match the brief, but allow me to give my take on the situation.
In general we don’t shoot fashion photography at wide angle, but this shot was too good to miss given the lighting behind Beverly, the model. I knew there was no way of correctly lighting up her face without off-camera lights, but I think the result looks something like a street photo and gives a lovely feeling of the city and the harbour beyond.
I will soon be posting a detailed post about the shoot and the 6 final photos, and I also have a couple of other shots I’d like to post alone from this series, so stay tuned for more.
