Shot with a Canon EOS 50D (w/ Sigma 70-300 lens)
- Shot on Aperture priority
- Focal Length: 300mm
- Aperture: f5.6
- Exposure: 1/2000s
- ISO 1000
As part of the experimental aspect of my 366 challenge I fixed the 70-300mm lens onto my camera and roamed about looking for macro subjects to shoot. I had read an article about shooting droplets on a car bonnet but that was a complete failure. With temperatures outside fixed firmly at 7 degrees (Celsius) below zero, any water droplets that might have been present outside were very firmly frozen and the prospect of roaming about outside lost its attraction as soon as I had a whiff of the cold air.
The cold air, however, meant that we had lots of condensation on the windows so I thought I’d apply the techniques to shooting droplets on macro over there instead. I pumped the ISO up significantly because I was shooting handheld and did not want any camera shake. I shot the window at various angles but this shot, with the bleak sky in the background, seemed to work best because it has no distractions.
